Lindsey&Mike | Dayton Wedding Photography

I was so excited to shoot this sweet wedding in dayton at the Ohio Barn.. I’ve known the groom, Mike, for years and years as he’s one of my younger brothers best friends. he’s know all grown up, in the Marines, and marrying the BEAUTIFUL love of his life. Mike and Lindsey live out in Cali so i hadnt had a chance to meet Lindsey prior to the wedding. But we clicked right away and i had such a fun time photographing their pretty day!

I literally gasped when i saw lindsey’s dress.. ever since trying on dresses for my own wedding, i love a beautiful lace gown, and hers didnt disappoint!

their rings! i die. i’m such a sucker for a beautiful sparkly ring.. so many details! Lindsey made her hairpiece and her bouquet. She put together all of the little key bottle opener favors.. love that locket of her grandparents too. such a sweet touch. i had a charm of my dad on my own bouquet. such a nice way to make sure those who cant be there in person are still recognized.what girl doesnt love a fab pair of shoes?i admit i probably took too many photos of her shoes that day. but they were perfect!Getting ready!this is one of my favorites from the day. that super giddy smile on her face.. love.

see that handsome guy there on the far left, thats my little brother. hi Just!i love that her dad is looking at her, and she can only look at her groom. so sweet.you guys are MARRIED!

Mike is heading off to Afghanistan in october so they dont get a whole lot of newlywed time before he leaves. Mike, you found the perfect girl for you. I’m so so happy for you both.Your wedding was beautiful! Thank you for including me in your special day. enjoy california living and mike, you be safe and thanks for your service to this great country. we appreciate all you do.  xxJBZ

A Sunshiney Baby Shower

So, for the few of you that may not know.. my wittle sister is having a baby! So me and my very best friend, Faye, put together a sunshine filled baby shower for her. Faye offered up her beautiful house for this party and i’m so grateful for that. Her home is full of beautiful light and its perfect to have parties in. We poured our whole hearts into this shower, as you’ll be able to tell from all the details. Mandy is planning a “you are my sunshine” type of nursery, all yellows and greys. So we took that theme and ran with it. We checked out mandy’s favorites folder on etsy and scoured her registry to see the things she’s been eyeing and tried to put our own spin on things. Faye and i love to host parties and this one was one of the more fun ones we’ve put together..it was fun to see all the details come together so nicely. Here’s mandy’s “you are my sunshine” baby shower!

Faye found cute little chalkboard signs at hobby lobby that we put to good use (ps isnt fayes front door FAB?!):

this is in faye’s entry way, how perfect is that dresser turned desk/foyer table.. yeah faye painted and finished that herself, she’s amazing.. but i digress.. that yellow and gray lamp on the right faye painted and put together for mandy.. mandy had registered for a lampshade similar to that but it turned out it was tiny, for a small desk lamp and wasnt going to work w the lamp faye had ready, so faye went out and bought a lampshade that would work and painted it the way mandy wanted! so on this table we had the guest book and the favors.

One of my favorite elements of this shower were the favors.. the tags say “From Mandy’s shower to yours”. i’m a HUGE fan of body scrubs, sugar scrubs, salt scrubs, strawberry seed scrubs, whatever. and they’re always pretty expensive. so i decided to make some, jar it up and put pretty fabric on top. i searched all over for shower scrub recipes and just tweaked them to make one i really liked. I’ll save that for another post sometime. But apparently it was a hit. i got text messages the next day saying how amazing it was. YAY!

for mandy’s guest book, i found this book called “Mom Candy” which is a book of quotes and advice from moms. The sign says: Lets help Mandy remember this special day by personalizing this book, “Mom Candy”. Please add your own words of wisdom, or find a quote that you think is the funniest or most insightful, and write why. Dont forget to sign your name. Thank you for helping to make a treasured keepsake for mandy and baby.

and for the other favors, i wrapped candy bars in doilies and ribbon. everyone loves chocolate and i thought it was a fun way to thank people for coming. plus i found those cute little onsie stickers and had to use them on something! and faye found this basket and spraypainted it the perfect yellow color, hoping mandy could put it to use in the nursery.

this is one of my favorite things from the baby shower. faye found all these pieces and painted them the perfect colors and put it all together for baby H’s room. i think its absolutely lovely. awesome work faye!

i got this playdoh baby game idea from the shower Emily threw for Megan:

fayes amazingness at work again. Faye’s been making diaper cakes since before the days of etsy and pinterest.. i’d actually never seen one until faye mentioned she’d make one for me to give to a friend years ago. since then they are all the rage and perfect as a decor/gift item at a shower.. but let me assure you, that is not where we got the idea.

our food spread, isnt it pretty?

world’s tiniest salads:

faye and i are kind of known for making cake pops for parties and events.. we’ve done a lot of amazing and fun and pretty ones.. we had a really hard time with this batch tho, i’m not gonna lie.. we think its because of the brand of chocolate we used (we wont be making that mistake again). but they came out kind of cute and i was told they were delicious so, thats all the matters.. i just loved these little baby faces and thought they would be perfect for the baby shower when i saw them on Bakerella’s website

Faye had the amazing idea to do an ombre cake.. i thought it was a great idea (most of faye’s ideas are just that, great!) So i left that to her ( i was making cooking and lemon bars) We ended up frosting it at about midnight the night before the shower and we were pretty delirious. we keep saying it was made with love and to not judge it too harshly. i really do love how it turned out, but as with most things that faye and i do, we found some ways we will do it better next time.

more details that will double as nursery decor:

Labor Day Weekend with the Family

Holiday weekends dont really mean a whole lot for JJ and I in terms of days off.. Lots of people get married on holiday weekends which means i tend to work those Saturdays. And JJ is so busy all the time at work that he usually works on holiday Mondays. But we did get Sunday off together this past weekend. So we headed back down to the Creek for a fun family day.

Whats a cookout without a little corn hole:

my handsome hubs and his little brother.i did manage to fall in love with someone new at this cookout.. This was my first time meeting baby Ryland in person and i’m smitten. He is such a doll. And i think he looks just like his mama. Little RyRy is JJ’s first cousin once removed and the first great grandbaby on the Walther side..needless to say, JJ’s grandparents are totally over the moon for this little guy.. i mean, really, how could you not be? he’s so happy on his gpa’s lap.. my sister showed up to my in law’s looking like my twin. Totally wasnt planned but from the sunglasses to the bracelets, we match. Linds and Chris made it home! As i’ve said before on the blog we dont get to see JJ’s sister that much, maybe a couple times a year.. But hey, they live in Florida, i hear people like it better down there. lolThe whole family!and of course, me and my handsome guy.

hope you all had a fun and relaxing labor day weekend too! xxJBZ

The Evistons | Dayton Family Photography

Meet one of my favorite set of siblings. I was so excited when Erica asked me to set up a family photography session for her and her siblings. I did both Erica’s and Meagan’s senior sessions a few years ago and had so much fun with them. And the four of them together, well, you shall see how much fun we had. We shot past sunset and it was getting pretty dark but i was having such a blast with them, watching them interact, i couldve shot for so much longer if we’d had the light!

So i knew ahead of time that we were gonna add the dogs for a few sessions, which is always ok with me, i’m a huge fan of dogs. When we all got there, the younger sibs told me that having the dogs in the photos was Erica’s idea. Turns out she’s just like me, total dog lover. They’re part of the family too! And they cooperated for the most part, how cute are they?i love this image so much.. i dont know why.. just something about a boy and his dog. Plus, i have a little soft spot in my heart for Connor… he reminds me a lot of my baby brother: both wrestlers, both not HUGE fans of getting their photos taken, both have crazy sisters 😉

These next four images, each of them individually.. i die. there was so much laughter during the hour+ i was with them.

Brielle (can i just take a sec to talk about Brielle’s hair?! gorge):Connor:Meagan:and Erica:If i had to use one word to sum up their session, it would be laughter.. hands down. so. much. laughing.

You guys, thank you SO much for trusting me with your family photography! i had SO much fun with you. I hope you love these images as much as i do!! xxJBZ

Britt - Oh my gosh, Jenny, you ROCKED this session! Their parents are going to LOVE these images, and if I were one of those siblings, I’d sure be getting some copies printed for myself, too! Perfect for taking to college or putting up in your first house. Makes me wish I had pictures like this of my brother and myself!

kim - JENNY!!!!!!! I LOVE these!!! Those images of each individual laughing ~ those would go on my wall ~ big time!!! What a beautiful family!!!

Jaime - WOW Jenny! I am in LOVE with these four…you really captured personalities!! What a treasure!

Michelle - What beautiful photos of beautiful siblings!! They will cherish these forever!!!

mel - how fun!

Meggie D - Looooove! What an awesome way for them to remember this time together. They all look so happy!great job JBZ!

Sundays are for Family

Its no secret that JJ and I come from pretty big families..and as we get older, they keep getting bigger. And i come from a family that always tries to celebrate birthdays together when we can.. thats a lot of birthday parties.. and i love every minute of it. And being that we’re both from the same home town, when my family has a birthday get together, we try to stop by to visit with JJ’s family as well.. I think they’re getting used to me wanting to take photos all the time.. Having lost my dad sooner than we were ready for, i’m a big believer in documenting family get togethers.

I really couldnt have asked for better in laws:

everytime i take pics of the Zink side, i get a little pang because JJ’s other sister Linds lives in Florida w her hubs.. we dont get to see them much. =(

so proud of kyle, he graduated from college this year! yay kyle!

i also like to try to take updated pics and update the blog with personal posts for our family who lives in Michigan and we dont get to see that often.. this way they can all see updated pics of the kiddos! (Hi Aunt Mary Anne and Aunt Barb!)

anytime i can get a pic of Mikey smiling like this, its a good day. he’s pretty wary of me most of the time so i die over that little grin.

Happy Birthday to my big brother!! and as always, one of my little  brothers has to leave the party so that they other brother can come.. so justin missed out on the big family photo again but i promise next time we’ll take the family photo before you leave, just! these two little monkeys are finally getting to the age where they WANT to be in our photos.. i love it.birthday squeezes for daddy!haha its never easy to get a family photo of this group where they are all looking at the camera.. theres always at least one who is unhappy about the whole thing.. this time it was Lo-lo.

so, there’s a little glimpse into our Sunday funday.. enjoy this beautiful monday, friends! xxJBZ
