Annabelle+Abigail | Columbus Child Photography

These two beauties are no stranger to being in front of my camera. I’ve been their family photographer for years! I’ve known their mama, Helen, since we were both junior high cheerleaders! So, we’ve been friends a few years 😉 This time Helen wanted to make sure we got some photos of the girls in their Irish Dance costumes! Back when i was doing mostly senior photography at a studio in Dayton, i photographed quite a few beautiful irish dancers in their amazing costumes, so i couldn’t wait to see these girls in theirs! But before we got them all done up, i wanted to catch a few of the sisters just in their every day clothes. I love photographing sisters. They have such a special bond. As someone who loves her sister to pieces, i would have LOVED having some of images like these of me and her together!

i’ve always been amazed with Irish Dancers. I love watching them dance, their wigs are phenomenal. Dancing with all that hair cannot be easy! but how gorgeous do these girls look! i’m totally obsessed with them.

Annabelle+Abigail | sisters | Dayton, OH

Annabelle | 12.13.2004 | 4th Grade | nicknames: Anna, Tummy, Tum Tum, Croupy Bear, Poopapotamus (given to her by Dr. England) | fave things: horses, Irish Dance, birds, Minecraft, art, snow | 5 words: caring, loving, reverent, witty, trustworthy

Abigail | 07.16.2007 | 2nd Grade | nicknames: Abby, Baby, Stinkin’ Weasel (Weasel for short), Baby Cakes | fave things: singing! fashion/design, Irish Dance, pandas, bulldogs | 5 words: confident, humorous, personable, extrovert, influential

best annabelle moment/memory so far (answered by mom):

We refused to keep scissors in the house for YEARS, because I feared one of my girls cutting their own hair. So when Annabelle had a lock of hair falling into her face, she cut it.
When I realized her hair didn’t lay flat – I asked her what happened and she said the hairdresser did it earlier that day.
Truth was she did it at school & planned it all out so no one else would notice she cut her hair OR even see it in the trashcan she was in 2nd grade!!!
I could only laugh as I took every precaution to prevent that and turned out she looked adorbs with bangs for awhile

best abigail moment/memory so far (answered by mom):

Abigail has a great imagination is an excellent storyteller and could convince anyone what she says is truth.
So when she started telling us she’s a werewolf, we laughed and thought it was cute.
Now nearly a year later, we’ve heard about where werewolves play, how they travel, what they eat (black cats are their favorite), who else is a werewolf, and the moon cycles – we’re no longer shocked when Abigail doesn’t want to wake up after playing all night.
(Note: Abigail hasn’t ever seen a movie or read a book with werewolves, so we’re thinking the only way she can provide all these details is if she’s a REAL werewolf.) 😉

Best thing about having a sister (answered by girls):

Anna: someone to play with and having my best friend

Abby: someone to wash dishes for you and help you when you get stuck

Favorite thing about Irish Dance:

Anna: going to Feisanna where we have fun family time

Abby: winning

Baby Bear is ONE! | The Lopardos | Columbus Family Photography

This family is brand new to this blog so lets give them a big welcome! Brian and i have been friends for close to 18 years now! Its so hard to believe its been that long. They live in Texas now so i don’t get to see them nearly enough and i always get excited when they make the trip home to ohio to visit. i was even more excited when Genny asked if i would do some family photography for them to capture Barrett’s first birthday! We actually did the session on Bear’s first birthday which was pretty cool. And he was just in the best mood. He had me in the palm of his cute little hand. Those big brown eyes just melted me.

i have a couple distinct favorites from this session, and this is definitely one of them. Bear is so happy! this is another favorite.. i love how Bud is looking at his son.. Still kinda hard to believe you have a son, bud! i love you guys. perfect match. always love each other just like this.while i was doing  a few images of just mom and dad, Barrett just stood there and laughed at us the whole time. HA, he thought we were hilarious. those teeth! At the end, Genny wanted to try a cake smash.. Bear definitely wasnt feeling it at first…but then he got a taste of the sugarrrrrrrrr, and then came the smile. lol

Genny and Bud, i love you guys. i hate that you’re so far away. I am so happy we got to hang out a couple times while you were back and can’t wait to see you this winter! and i promise we’ll make it to texas to visit again! xxJBZ

Lillian+Everett are ONE! | Columbus Baby Photography

Baby photography is so fun. Even more fun when i get to watch these babies grow! everyone knows i love photographing newborns and its such a joy to do their one year photos to see how they’ve grown, changed or stayed the same. I cannot believe these beauty-full babies are a year old already. You all remember the twins, right? How perfectly adorable and tiny and squishy they were. They’re a year old! And they’ve got distinctly different and BIG personalities. And they show through these photos so well. Lily is a total ham and crazy fast, does not want to sit still, always laughing and smiling. Everett is a little more chill, more serious, taking things in. Both are just too cute for words. I had so much fun with them, i didn’t want to leave. My face and abs hurt so much from just laughing with them non stop. and they’re off! i love this one.. everett definitely made me work for his smiles where lily loved me from the minute i arrived. lolhaha SUPER BABIES!

Nolan is 6 months! | The Hoyngs | Columbus Family Photography

This team is no stranger to this blog. Mandy’s been posing in front of my camera since i was in my first photography class in middle school, thru high school and she was my go-to when i was in photography school. She used to wanna be a model so it all worked out perfectly. My style has changed a ton since those days but she’s still one of my favorite subjects to capture. Family photography is one of my favorites, especially for new families, and especially when its my family. If this is your first visit to the blog, mandy is my beautiful sister, nick is her handsome hubs, and nolan is my adorable, perfect little nephew. And nolan turning 6 months old was a perfect opportunity for a family session!! sometimes its hard to believe he’s only 6 months old because i hardly remember not having him in my life.. and then i can’t believe he’s ALREADY 6 months old.. time is flying. and let me tell ya, this kid captures the heart of everyone he meets. That smile… its worth all the stupid human tricks i have to do to get it. he melts me. i love him so much.his facial expressions just crack me up.oh, have i mentioned how much he loves his mama?? because he so does. the smiles he saves for her are the best of all. and if he can’t see her, its like someone turned the lights off. He’s definitely a mama’s boy.. and he’s got her wrapped around his finger too. its still crazy to see my little sister as a mom! first time on his daddy’s shoulders, i think he liked it. Nick did too. 😉can we also talk about how perfectly coordinated they are?! i love it. perfect little family. and of course they wanted Jackson in a few, he was their first baby. and boy do these boys love each other. hoyng brothers. <3oh nolan, auntie jenny loves you so much. i hope you never stop giving me those sweet smiles!

mandy and nick, i love you. duh. xxJBZ

nick | hometown: beavercreek, OH | Director of Business Development | 5 words (as described by mandy): helpful, selfless, devoted, amazing father, ambitious

nolan | 7 months | 12.15.13 | 5 words: sweet, silly, stubborn, playful, happy

nolan’s favorite things: sophie the giraffe, toy keys, reading books, and anything that isn’t his, lol. if we put his toys in front of him along w one of our items, he always goes for ours.

favorite foods right now: mama’s milk, sweet potatoes, bananas
least favorite foods right now: blueberries
one baby item you couldn’t live without: this is lame for us but its what we use the most – aquaphor because his poor skin is so dry. something more fun would be his Sophie giraffe
best piece of mommy/daddy advice to others: nick: enjoy sleep as much as you can before baby comes. enjoy each other before baby comes. And don’t worry about buying everything new–babies grow so fast, they don’t need brand new items
mandy: it won’t be like this for long. Snuggle your baby as much as you can. rock your baby to sleep and love on them as much as possible. they grow up so fast and if you blink, you might miss something.
favorite Nolan memory/moment so far: nick: when nolan was very small and he would lay and fall asleep on my chest. lately-my favorite thing is when he giggles.
mandy: when nolan was 4 weeks old and he looked up at me and smiled. my heart melted and i knew he knew i was his mama =) now every time he smiles at me after that special moment, my heart still melts and i wish i could freeze time.
i have many many memories and moments so far but my favorites are his big milestones. They make me feel like i’m doing something right.

Ashley - Oh my goodness… Nolan is already 6 months old?! Feels like you just captured his newborn photos JBZ! He’s adorable, and these photos could not be more perfect! I loveeeee that first one, oh and the last one… oh wait and all the ones in between! Great work as always JBZ! 🙂

Reed Jonathan – 6 days new | Columbus Newborn Photography

I’ve been so excited to show you these images. Its no secret that i absolutely adore newborn photography. These teeny tiny babies grow so fast and they’re only this small for such a short time. I think its so important to capture how tiny they are because i think its easy to forget as they get bigger. When i found out that Jeff and Lauren were expecting (by accident, before lauren could tell me, sorry LDH!) i was so over the moon for them. They are already wonderful parents to their sweet pup, Penelope, i knew they would make fabulous parent to a human baby as well. It totally killed me that they weren’t finding out what they were having, just like my sister didn’t, gah! But i suspected it was a boy and i was right! His birth story is a funny one.. they almost didn’t make it to the hospital in time! As a first time mom, lauren thought she had plenty of time after she started feeling contractions and after her water broke.. little did she know, they made it to the hospital in the nick of time, with no time to get an epidural or anything. The doctor barely made it into their room in time. Lauren and Jeff had JUST moved into their new house. Literally they slept on their mattress on the floor for the first time on thursday night and Reed made his appearance on Friday! He wasn’t messing around. And boy is he perfect, and so darling! I think he looks just like his daddy, who unfortunately was so busy at work he couldn’t take time off to be a part of this session.. but we will make sure he is in the next one! Without further ado, meet baby Reed!

well hello their bright eyes! oh these teeny tiny baby feet melt me! i die!love love love. LDH, YOU ARE GORGEOUS!ten perfect little fingers. so sweet. we were lying there, trying to get baby Reed to fall back to sleep and Penelope wanted to sneak in for some cuddles too. She loves her new baby brother. columbus ohio family photographyi got a few good expressions from Reed throughout the session and i just can’t resist this little smirk/smile. How freaking adorable is he.

Lauren and Jeff, thank you for trusting me to capture these first newborn portraits of your sweet perfect little nugget. You know i adore you guys. Cant wait to see you all again! xxJBZ

most helpful baby product or shower gift as a brand new mom: ergo baby carrier – i can do laundry and Reed can snuggle up to me at the same time!
best piece of advice given to you: trust your instincts (many other new moms have told me this! i think they were given so much advice that they finally gave up and just followed their gut!)
best piece of mommy/daddy advice to others: do one thing every day that is just for you (showering doesn’t count). it can be 10 sit-ups, painting your toes, or running out to get a latte, but make sure to give yourself one pleasure every day!
