Brandt Michael – 6 days new | Columbus Newborn Photography

This sweet perfect little guy was my first newborn photography session of 2015 and i couldn’t have started the year with a better subject! Brandt was perfect and sweet and so cute! Talk about a perfectly squishy little chunker! And can we talk for a minute about how big sister Leila was the most patient, cooperative 3 year old i’ve EVER met! I was in awe over how well behaved she was.Not to mention, beautiful! Her eyes and curls! Heartbreak city with these kids! I had such a wonderful time with this sweet family and got in some good newborn snuggle time, which is never a bad thing!

I simply adore this sweet sibling shot which is not always easy to get with toddlers under 4, but like i said, leila was such a cooperative big sister i knew i could trust her. 🙂Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographyoh those baby toes! melt! oh hey there pretty girl!

kat and mike~ thank you guys so much for trusting me with your sweet baby boy’s first photo shoot! I had so much fun with all of you! xxJBZ

Nicholas David – 6 Days New | Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photography

You guys remember katie+dave, one of my favorite maternity sessions ever? Well, their sweet newborn baby nicholas has arrived and is making his debut on the JBP blog! I fell in love with this tiny little human the minute i laid eyes on him. How could you not?? All these sweet newborn photography sessions aren’t doing much to help my baby fever but i love every single second of it. Baby nicholas was a dream to photograph. He stayed awake long enough for us to get to know each other a little, then drifted right off for the rest of the afternoon.

oh katie, you are so beautiful and i just LOVE this sweet image of you and your sweet boy. a few times i asked katie to relax her smile a little bit and give me more of just a neutral expression.. her response, “i just can’t stop smiling”. Is that not just the sweetest thing??lastly, check out this peek into the nursery!! i’m obsessed! Dave’s mom painted that dresser! how amazing is that?? i adore the colors (duh, everyone knows i love yellow) and all the details, the chandelier! Not to mention that sweet sweet baby on the changing pad!

katie+dave, i totally love you guys. You’re absolutely the best. Thank you a million times for letting me spend the afternoon with you and trusting me with your baby boy’s first photo session. I hope you love these images as much as i do! xxJBZ

katie+dave | engaged: 05.21.10 | married 3 years | 08.20.11 | home now: lewis center, oh

katie | hometown: euclid, oh | Bath & Body Works HR | 5 words (as described by dave): social butterfly, kind hearted, driven, honest, loyal

dave | hometown: euclid, oh |Personal Insurance Management | 5 words (as described by katie): generous, social, organized, reliable, loyal

nicholas | 3.5 weeks | 12.15.14 4:37 | 7lbs 4oz 19in | nicknames: we call him “The Champ” or “Ollie” or Nick 🙂

tell us a little about your birth story:

Our “birth day” was very fun – we were both so excited! Mommy’s water broke at 4:30am, we checked into the hospital at 8:30am and our little Nicholas was born at 4:34 that afternoon.

We had the most patient, knowledgeable and kind nurses — the entire staff at Riverside was amazing, they made Nicholas’s birth and our hospital stay very special.

Even through the few hours of “rough” labor, we both appreciated each & every moment. There were a lot of tears & smiles and felt so much love from our family & friends.

thoughts on becoming parents (unexpected joys/challenges etc):

The amount of love that you feel is overwhelming — even the challenging times are special because we are learning about our little guy and what he needs to be happy.

He is the most important priority and every day is a learning experience.  The unexpected joy is spending time just holding him and watching him,

I think the biggest challenge is the fact that he’s growing up so fast – he changes every day (time flies!).

what ‘must haves’ should expecting moms make sure to have in their hospital bag?

Your camera to document those first wonderful moments. I also brought my own pillows, which helped my stay in the hospital be a little more comfortable!

most helpful baby product or shower gift as a brand new mom:

we loved the gifts that were “mommy’s favorite” products that other mom friends had used and loved.. like their favorite diaper rash cream, gas drops, burb cloths, etc.

It was the best way to try different products that were mommy recommended.

best piece of advice given to you: to trust your gut, your own instincts on what you or the baby needs.. and to sleep when the baby sleeps 🙂

best piece of mommy/daddy advice to others:

Communicate with your partner constantly — there are so many emotions, especially those first few weeks that your partner needs to know what your feeling, how they can help or what you need.
You are each others biggest support and need to be there for each other, so you need to communicate and find time & ways to appreciate one another!
Write down special moments (and facts, like weight, milestones, etc) because time flies by so fast!

Henry Michael – 8 days new | Columbus, Ohio Newborn Photography

I have been unbelievably lucky this fall to have as many newborn photography sessions as i have. I adore photographing newborns and getting to snuggle these sweet babies. I definitely get my baby fix this way. Baby Henry had the most perfect baby rolls and perfectly creamy skin. He didn’t wanna sleep much for me, way too interested in the world around him, but when he did fall asleep, i was able to get a few of my absolute favorite shots. A big thanks to mom and dad, lauren and steve, for letting me hang out with their new baby all day!

Emory Jackson – 6 days new | Columbus, OH Newborn Photography

I can’t even tell you how over the moon i am that i’ve been able to do so many newborn photography sessions lately. I love babies so much and photographing them is a dream come true. Especially when they are as squishy and sleepy as this sweet guy was. Emory was an absolute dream for me to photograph. He didn’t even make a mess of any of my blankets (which is totally standard by the way, don’t think its a big deal if your baby pees or poos on me, happens all the time!) Although, he did decide to pee a whole heck of a lot when it was dad’s turn to hold him. We all died laughing. Emory just kept on sleeping. Here are some of my favorites from my afternoon with this sweet and precious new family

olivia, you.. are.. GORGEOUS!

lauren+jeff+reed | Columbus Family Photography

You guys might remember lauren and reed from earlier this year when i did reed’s newborn photos. Jeff wasn’t able to make it to that session (silly work) so we made plans that day for family photography in the fall. this age, around 6/7 months, is one of my most favorite ages! Babies are really starting to laugh and smile a whole lot and they aren’t mobile yet. I’m absolutely in love with these images, that might have something to do with the people in them. I adore this team. lauren is seriously one of the nicest, sweetest, friendliest people i’ve ever met. and jeff loves her so much. its no surprise that baby reed is just as friendly. We went to dinner after this session and once he woke up, reed was perfectly content to sit with me and give me lots of those gummy grins. Enjoy some of my favorites from this session!

he looooooves his mama!

l+j, you guys know how much i love you! thanks for making the trip down to columbus! i hope you love these images as much as i do!! reed is perfect. but you already knew that. xxJBZ

lauren+jeff+reed | home: findlay, oh

lauren | hometown: carroll township, pa | real estate coordinator | 5 words, described by jeff: enthusiastic, loyal, thoughtful, independent, intelligent

jeff | hometown: findlay, oh | project engineer | 5 words, described by lauren: disciplined, generous, responsible, interested in many things, animal lover

reed | 6 months | 05.30.14 | 18 lbs | 5 words: innocent, blessing, giggles, thinker, curious

reed’s favorite things:

mom and dad (especially mom!), being tickled, words that start with the letter “B”, bright colors, touching & grasping

reeds favorite foods right now:

We started feeding Reed baby oatmeal about a month ago. He’s finally eating it more than wearing it!

reeds least favorite foods right now:

He doesn’t have too many options yet, but he’s a big eater, so I can’t imagine him turning much down!

favorite reed moment/memory so far:

Every morning during the week, I stand over his crib to wake him up, and I try to let him get up slowly. He stretches for a little bit, and then his eyes will pop open, and as soon as he looks at me, his face lights up into a big grin.

It is the best part of the day, and a great incentive to get up early!

one baby item you couldn’t live without:

A video monitor- it’s been 6 months, and we still glance at it all the time to make sure his chest is going up and down so we know that he is still breathing!

any advice for new parents:

Everything is trial and error. What works for one child, may not work for another. What works on Monday, may not work come Wednesday! The things we do to get smiles may be ridiculous, but it’s totally worth it 🙂

Meggie D - Ohhhhh I LOVE 6 months!!! They are so happy and you don’t have to chase them! 😉 Lauren, your family is to-die-for-adorable!!! I love how smiley Reed is. Jenny, LOVE this so much!!
